Useful Everyday Kanji

Japan uses three "scripts" to read and write with: kanji (Chinese characters)

hiragana and

katakana.

Below are just a sample of useful Chinese characters you may meet in everyday living.

 

* Katakana not kanji is used for the words for bus, taxi and one of the words for toilet. It is usually used for Japanese words taken from foreign languages.
